Lesson FAQ
A few details before requesting a first lesson.
Common questions about the first lesson, weekly enrollment, practice,
scheduling, and the studio's warm approach to learning.
Where are lessons held?
Lessons are offered at Anna's private studio in Atherton. Limited in-home
lessons may also be available in Atherton and surrounding communities,
depending on location and schedule. Groups of three or more meet at a studio
in downtown Palo Alto once a suitable group has formed.
How do lessons begin?
Families begin by sharing a few details about the student, goals, and
schedule. If it seems like a thoughtful fit, the next step is a paid first
lesson where the student and teacher meet, make music, and see whether
ongoing studio enrollment feels right.
Do students enroll one lesson at a time?
No. After the first lesson, students who continue reserve a consistent
weekly studio place. Tuition can be paid monthly, with semester payment
available for families who prefer that rhythm.
Do you teach piano, voice, or both?
Yes. Private piano, private voice, and thoughtfully combined piano-and-voice
lessons are currently available for children and adults.
How do Partner Lessons and Creative Musicianship Groups work?
These programs begin with an interest list. Partner Lessons pair two students
only when age, level, schedule, and personality make sense. Groups of three
or more begin when enough compatible students are ready and meet at a studio
in downtown Palo Alto.
Is this a strict or exam-focused studio?
The studio teaches real foundations, but the tone is encouraging and
creative. Students are expected to grow, not to feel afraid of mistakes.
How much should students practice?
Practice expectations depend on age, level, and goals. Families receive
clear guidance so practice at home feels doable, not confusing. Students
are taught how to begin, what to listen for, and what the main priority is
that week.
How will I know if lessons are working?
Progress is not only finishing pieces. Families can expect growth in reading,
rhythm, coordination, listening, technique, independence, repertoire, and
musical confidence. Anna keeps parents oriented around the current challenge
and the next goal.
Will students choose music they enjoy?
Yes, students have a voice in the music they study. Anna chooses the right
level, sequence, and balance so personal interest supports real progress
instead of replacing the foundations.
What if motivation changes?
Motivation can change when the challenge, repertoire, pace, practice task,
or lesson format needs adjusting. Anna looks for the reason and helps decide
whether to simplify, persist, change direction, or reconsider the fit.
What happens after the first lesson?
If the fit feels right, the family receives next steps for ongoing weekly
enrollment, including schedule and tuition details.
Still feel like this could be a fit?
